Accessibility

We know that meaningful inclusion and justice means making our work accessible. Here are some of the ways we are trying to improve access to our training. If you have any other recommendations or access requirements for your upcoming sessions, please feel free to contact us.

Access for online sessions:

A computer device with microphone and camera is required to access all components of our virtual workshops.

Slides are accessible via google slides. Text is written with strong colour contrast in upper and lower case, and using large clear font. Image descriptions via alt text are included for any images on the slides.

All our workshops are auto-captioned with live transcription on Zoom, however these are not 100% accurate and are only available in the main session (not break out rooms).

In our 3.5 hour sessions there are two 5-minute breaks and one 10-minute break. Participants are encouraged to eat, drink or move around if they need to and are welcome to turn their video off for these times if this is more comfortable.

Participants are also asked if they have any additional accessibility requirements at the start of the session.

Access for face to face sessions:

When organisations book our workshops, they provide the venue for the workshop. It is the organisation’s responsibility to ensure their venue is accessible to their staff and participants.

This may include but is not limited to: a wheelchair accessible venue, accessible & gender neutral bathrooms, appropriate & comfortable seating inclusive for all sizes and wheelchairs, spacious organisation of furniture and accessible via wheelchair accessible public transport.

For attendees at a community session hosted by Hue, we will ensure that these access requirements are met by our venues.

Interpreters:

We use interpreters for our sessions when required by participants.

If your organisation has booked our workshops, it is the responsibility of the organisation to book an interpreter so that the session is accessible for all participants, and we will liaise with them and provide necessary resources prior to the session.

For attendees at a community session hosted by Hue, please let us know if you require an interpreter, and we will organise one for the session.

Financial Access:

We aim to make our workshops financially accessible to a range of organisations and individuals whilst honouring the labour of speaking to lived experience and the need for organisations to prioritise budget for this work. This is why the prices of our workshops are scaled for differently sized and structured organisations and community groups, and our community workshops always have unwaged options with no one turned away due to lack of funds.
