Facilitation

Holding space for conversations that grow us, challenge us and keep us moving towards our goals.

Facilitation

Skillful facilitation requires deep presence, listening and emotional awareness, bringing together shared context, and making space for collaborative decision making, creative problem solving and imaginative innovations.

In fast-paced work environments, finding the time and presence to facilitate effectively can be challenging, eroding relationships and losing valuable insights.

We are frequently told our facilitators are the best: friendly and engaging, fostering psychological safety, encouraging full participation, moving tactfully through conflict, and ensuring diverse perspectives are harnessed for effective, actionable outcomes.

What a fantastic session! Several of us agreed it was the best we’ve attended, and the facilitator was the most impactful I’ve experienced. It was incredibly thought-provoking, with great discussion—I’ll be taking these learnings and reflections with me into the future.

  • Facilitators offer structure and support for your strategic planning, brain storming or change management by providing:

    • An External Perspective: who can challenge assumptions, address "elephants in the room," and navigate internal politics without bias.

    • Structured Focus and Time Management: We keep discussions on track, prevent circular conversations, and ensure the team adheres to the agenda, maximising efficiency.

    • Increased Engagement and Participation: Skilled facilitators ensure all voices are heard, preventing one or two people from dominating and allowing for diverse perspectives, which strengthens the final strategy.

    • Enhanced Commitment to Outcomes: By allowing leaders to participate rather than manage the process, facilitation creates greater team ownership and commitment to the resulting plan.

    • Moving conversation to action: We provide tailored frameworks to guide the team from brainstorming to concrete, actionable, and measurable steps.

Key Benefits of Using a Facilitator:

    • Reduced Conflict: We manage difficult conversations and navigate power dynamics.

    • Better Decision Making: We guide the team to make collaborative & strategic choices rather than impulsive ones.

    • Speed and Efficiency: We accelerate the planning process, reducing the time invested by internal staff.

  • Whether you’re testing a new program or offering, exploring perspectives of stakeholders, or looking for feedback internally for a new initiative, focus group facilitation provides you with the insight you need to move forward in an aligned direction.

We develop content, structure and supporting resources for your focus groups to gain essential insights and apply them.

  • Creation in collaboration is always the most impactful, but gathering a range of perspectives, developing relationships, and holding space for thoughtful discussions can be challenging.

Our facilitators work with you and your team or community to create and deliver a co-design process based on your specific needs.

  • Reflective practice spaces are essential for anyone doing case work, community work, social work, and any work that impacts others. But holding reflective spaces isn’t reserved for those working with marginalised communities - all of us benefit from having time and space carved out for reflection, accountability and growth.

Our team includes qualified social workers and peer-workers here to support any team to reflect on their work. We apply our anti-oppressive, anti-racist and intersectional lens to your reflections to support you to align your work with your values and improve your practice.

  • We provide group and individual supervision to Social Workers, Case Workers and Peer Workers. Together we interrogate the challenges we face in our work and their systemic context, while expanding our toolkit for anti-oppressive and justice-oriented practice, while providing a supportive environment to critically self reflect.

Meaningful supervision keeps staff and our communities safer and improve outcomes for all.

  • Receiving the gifts of community feedback and insights can be challenging if we don’t create the space, time and emotional capacity for them. Facilitators create the spaciousness and degree of separation needed to support meaningful collection of feedback and application of insights.

  • We love speaking at your events, whether as a keynote, a panellist, and in-conversation or as a facilitator. Our team can support you to get the best out of your speakers and create engaging events that connect with your audience.

  • Whether it’s a one off educational opportunity or regular facilitation, we love supporting communities of practice to hold important conversations to align their work with their values.

We can support you to create norms and guidelines to get your group started, or join as a guest facilitator to share our knowledge and insights.

  • Committees, advisory groups and reference groups all benefit from external facilitation.

We can support you with terms of reference and safety practices to set group expectations and support delivery, and facilitate the meetings themselves to get you started.
