Women of Colour: Power, Resilience & Community Organising

Connect with other women of colour and build powerful community organising skills.

People of colour and First Nations people all have unique experiences and relationships to oppressive systems. Whilst this session is titled "Women of colour", this workshop is open to all individuals who are affected by misogyny and transmisogyny (TMA). This workshop is designed to carve out space to reflect on the internalised racism we may hold, consider our own needs, boundaries and responses to racism when we experience it, and empower us to harness our power in the fight for racial justice.

The second part of the workshop is all about Community Organising. Building on the knowledge and skills of the morning session we will use that learning to look at how to strategically organise our communities, build relationships and create connections with people to create the changes we want to see in our communities. In this session you'll learn how to have relational conversations, create strategic goals, how to map the community and pick strong tactics for creating change.

This workshop is:

  • accessible, please let us know of any specific requirements you may have when you sign up

  • free

  • is child safe - all facilitators have working with children checks

  • facilitated by a women of colour
